Manzanita Wood

Manzanita wood is a naturally forking hardwood that is visually stunning and will complete any aquarium, terrarium or vivarium. There are many shapes available, twigs, branches, burls, and root crowns allowing you to create any natural habitat or biotope that you desire.

Unlike Grapevine, Manzanita is a very dense, does not rot, and will remain beautiful submerged for many years. It is chemically neutral and each piece is heat treated and sandblasted to remove parasites and excess tannins. Manzanita wood is safe for all aquarium fish, invertebrates, reptiles and amphibians.

Manzanita wood that is intended be used in the aquarium should be treated like regular driftwood and be soaked for a few weeks before placing in the tank. Leaching is expected but not as much as most other types of wood. Pieces will sink in a few days to a few weeks depending on their size.

Manzanita wood is also ideal for parrot perches as it is much more resistant against their strong beaks than regular wood.
